Enterprise Infrastructure for India's AI Platform
Today, we're proud to share that Thinnest AI has been awarded Microsoft Azure Startup Credits — a major boost to our production infrastructure serving users across India.
Azure's Central India data center in Pune is the backbone of our production environment. With Azure credits, we can run enterprise-grade VMs, managed PostgreSQL databases, and low-latency networking — all within India's borders, ensuring fast response times and data residency compliance for our Indian customers.
Why Azure for Production in India?
While we use GCP for development and global services, Azure won our production deployment for three critical reasons:
1. Central India Data Center
Azure's Central India region in Pune gives us sub-20ms network latency to major Indian cities — Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai. For voice AI, where every millisecond counts, having production infrastructure in-country is non-negotiable.
2. D8as_v5 VMs: AMD EPYC Power
Our production workloads run on Azure's D8as_v5 instances — 8 vCPUs, 32 GB RAM, AMD EPYC 3rd-gen processors. These VMs deliver excellent price-performance for our FastAPI backend, handling hundreds of concurrent voice calls and chat sessions with headroom to spare.
3. Managed PostgreSQL
Azure Database for PostgreSQL provides automated backups, high availability, and pgvector support — everything we need for our primary database without the operational overhead of self-managing a database cluster.
Multi-Cloud Strategy
We're building Thinnest AI as a multi-cloud platform — and for good reason:
- Azure Central India — Production workloads, primary database, Indian user traffic
- Google Cloud — Development, staging, global CDN, Cloud Run for auxiliary services
- Modal — Serverless GPU compute for model training and batch processing
This architecture gives us the best of each cloud: Azure's Indian data center proximity, GCP's developer experience and managed services, and Modal's on-demand GPUs. No single cloud provider is a single point of failure.
